Hello, and welcome back to what’s been happening at Nioa Pastoral in recent times. March was a busy and exciting time for us with preparations for the Sydney Royal Easter Show and the logistics of getting our cattle and associated equipment 660 km south. The trip turned out to be very successful with Nioa taking out Four Major Classes.
NIOA MARKSMAN M06(P) came away with Junior and Grand Champion Bull. GLEN OAKS MACEY was placed Second in her Class along with NIOA ULTRA Fourth. Nioa also won the Sire’s Progeny Group with Wave Hill Jager J14(PS). To top off the day Nioa also won the Breeders Progeny Group, this was our first trip to Sydney and a great learning experience, to have NIOA MARKSMAN win Junior and Grand Champion Bull at Sydney is a real achievement for us in our first year of exhibiting our own progeny. Sydney Show is an extremely well-run event and credit must be given to the organizing Committee, Judges and Stewarts who made this event possible.
This month saw us head north to Rockhampton for BEEF 2018. A huge event for anyone who attended, not only for those who were exhibiting cattle, but for anyone who is involved in Agriculture with a huge display of trade sites. Nioa Stud ended up with a First in class with GOOLAGONG LUCY, NIOA KIMBERLY and GLEN OAKS MACEY where 3rd in their Classes and NIOA ULTRA came home 5th in her Class.
We would like to congratulate the WACO Stud on their huge success at BEEF 2018, also thanks to the Santa Gertrudis Association for offering us a site in the Santa Marquee which gave us maximum exposure during the week. Two people who played a big part in our success over recent times are James and Jane Dockrill from Pinedock Fitting Services, thank you for your professional approach and positive attitude towards your work.
Until it rains again, safe travels and take care.
Shannon Gardner.
