NIOA cattle are set to star in a series of television advertisements for the Santa Gertrudis Breeders’ Association.
Santa association president Chris Todd, along with stock agents Andrew Costello and Jake Robinson from Nutrien Ag Solutions were among a film crew on location at Talgai Homestead as the cameras rolled on NIOA’s growing stud herd.
And the “Cherry Reds” were looking as spectacular – and serene - as the Talgai backdrop with a new flush of green from the summer storms.
“These film crews do this for a living and they couldn’t believe how well behaved our cattle were – even with the drone over them,” NIOA Santa Gertrudis General Manager Shannon Gardner said.
“We had about 50-head on the lawn and held them up in a ball. Of course there’s a fair bit that goes on behind the scenes, but they were in great form.”
Champion heifer NIOA Lucy, purchased by West Australian breeder Clinton Wheatley ahead of last year’s Ekka, was among the cattle making a cameo while record-breaking bull Yarrawonga Spartacus was captured by the drone camera along with another mob grazing in a nearby paddock.
The ads, being produced by rural specialists C7EVEN, will run on prime-time television throughout regional Australia during the 2023 bull selling season from June to October.
