NIOA Texas has made an immediate impact in the show ring - and it’s just the beginning for the 17-month-old bull says NIOA Santa Gertrudis General Manager Shannon Gardner.
The son of Rosevale Democrat G268 (P) snared a swag of ribbons on debut including Junior Champion Bull, Grand Champion Bull, Tropical Champion Bull and Supreme Exhibit as the Allora Show returned for the first time in two years.
“Texas is certainly an eye catcher and his early scan data has him as a future stud sire prospect,” Shannon said. “He handled his first outing like a seasoned pro.
“It’s great when a planned breeding program has results like this. A result of our 2020 AI breeding program, Texas’s sire was selectively used with a handful of our top females. Another result of our planned AI strategy, Helena’s sire, Cardona Pattison has been a great cross with the NIOA females.
“Special mention to Sam Falls and Bailey Gardner on a great effort preparing our cattle.”
The females in the draft were equally impressive with NIOA Helena and NIOA Special Effects taking the one-two double (24 months-plus) while NIOA Helena was sashed Senior and Grand Champion, Tropical Female Champion with NIOA Special Effects rounding out the showing with Reserve Grand Champion.
The NIOA stud’s chief advisor and breed specialist Rob Sinnamon said the results from Allora demonstrated the Talgai Homestead-based operation was focused on producing the “right kind” of commercially relevant beef cattle.
“NIOA Santa Gertrudis continues to cement its position of breeding champions,” he said. “It is certainly satisfying to see NIOA dominate the strongly contested interbreed competition.
“The breeding program is now progressing next level in terms of producing top quality seedstock , with exciting genetic engineering taking place, that position the stud well as a supplier of superior bloodlines.”
These award-winning bloodlines, and more, will be on offer at the annual NIOA RL Pastoral Production Sale on Monday, September 18 at Talgai Homestead.
